The BMW X6 Overview
In one sense, as the defining member of a newclass, BMW's X6 Sports Activity Coupe has no direct competitors. There are, of course, a number of vehicles that compete with this unique vehicle based on price, performance or luxury appointments. How these competitors compare on a point-by-point basis, however, underscores not just the X6's uniqueness, but it's overall strenghts in each of these three categories. Then add to that something none of them can offer- the opportunity to own the frst of an exciting new class of vehicles!
As the world's first Sports Activity Coupe's, the X6 xDrive35i and X6 xDrive50i not only represent an all-new class, they also introduce Dynamic Performance Control, the latest enhancement of BMW's standard setting xDrive. The perfect complement to BMW's all-wheel drive system, Dynamic Performance Control gives the X6 unprecedented chassis response and handling. BMW's superlative brake and steering are second to none. Couple these capabilities with a pair of Twin-Turbo, direct fuel injected engines - inline- 6 or V-8 - and the X6 sets performance and handling standards that other competitors will take years to match.
The Acura MDX Sport Overview
Originally based on the Japanese home-market Honda Odyssey minivan, Acura's full-size MDX with the second-generation model, introduced for 2007. A 3.7 liter V-6 powers the Acura, backed by and outdated 5-speed automatic transmission. Power is respectable but high-rpm biased: 300-hp @ 6000 rpm, with 275 lb-ft. of torque @ 5000 rpm.
The MDX's sporting credentials revolve around its 18-inch wheels, adjustable shock damping and what the company calls its Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD) system, basically a simplified version of Dynamic Performance Control. Acura's AWD design remains heavily front-biased, and the torque-apportioning system functions only when power is applied - back off the throttle and the MDX reverts totally to front-drive mode.
Though the SH-AWD improves the handling of the basic MDX, the Sport designation refers more to the Acura's equipment than its potential. With a 0-60 mph time of 7 seconds (Car and Driver, May 2007), the MDX is reasonably quick compared to the traditional Sport Utility Vehicles, but no match for the X6 xDrive35i.

What BMW offers…
What Acura doesn’t…
"Obscure the lower third of the X6, and it could easily pass as some hot new sport coupe. But once those
muscular fenders and 20-inch rims come into view, it's clear this vehicle is something completely different." - Motor Trend
